Any number divided by itself is always unity (1). But this fact has an exception. What is the exception? give examples where applicable

It could be when it is a positive and a negative, but then technically those would become different numbers.

i too agree with first response...zero/zero is not equal to 1.it is indeterminate.what about infinity by infinity?is it equal to one?i dont think it is equal to one.
