Do you use powdered or liquid laundry soap? What brand?

I recently switched from liquid laundry soap to powdered because it was cheaper. Now, 3 months later I remember why I quit buying the powdered. It just doesn't dissolve well. The past 4 loads I've washed have been rinsed multiple times. I do wash in cold usually but it shouldn't matter I didn't think. So, I am going back to liquid. I have a husband and children who are EXCELLENT at staining clothes! What brand is the best to remove deep stains such as oil or mud? I need a VERY strong soap.

I have tried all kinds of brands and not one worked on everything. I am using liquid ALL right now because I caught a sale at WalMart where the concentrated bottles were only $1.50 (normally $3.99). For greasy stains, I put Dawn dishwashing soap on the stain and let it sit for a few minutes in hot water before I wash it. I normally wash in cold water as well, I don't find that it makes a huge difference on normal loads. However, if you have a greasy stain you should wash in Hot water to help break down the grease.

My problem here is that my husband bought our washer and got one of the cheaper ones although it is name brand. It only has two settings, cold cold or warm cold and the warm cold is no different than the cold cold! So, its hard for me to wash in hot as I would have to carry the water to the machine. I will try the dawn though! Thanks

Thanks for the post. It seems as though many people trust in Tide. I have been hesitant to buy it since it is the most expensive but I think I will shop around for some coupons and try it out! Can't hurt right? The worst thing it could do is save money on stain remover!

there are one cleaning products to remove stains such as Wisk liquid detergent. I always use Wisk liquid to wash all of my clothes. One time I did not pay attention to spray oil on my white short sleeves T-shirt. Then I placed it into cold water cleaning it into wash machine. It took about 20min. all the stains went away.

I use liquid Tide and liquid softener. Like you, I did not like that the powder would not dissolve completely and would leave patches of powder on my clothes. I would add the powder to the water and "swish" it around before adding the clothes, but this did not help. I use the liquid softener because my family has sensitive skin and the fabric softener sheets would cause us to itch due to drying out our skin. I have bought many products that claim to remove stains, only to have them fail in removing them. The one product that I use that has never let me down is Fantastic spray. The regular version, not the citrus. Sometimes I would have to spray and rub the stain lightly with a cloth, especially for oil, and wash it a second time to remove the stains, but the stains usually come out. I also wash in cold water. I have tried many bargain brands over the years, but keep going back to Tide, though I am not as picky about my softener. The one thing that did help a lot was convincing my husband to use a uniform company! I enjoy that SO much more as I don't have to do the greasy clothes anymore. : )
