I recently found out that the canadian government drops the ratings on movies when they come across the border. for example the movie "snakes on a plane" is rated R in the states but only rated PG 14 here in New Brunswick Canada which I think is obsurd. Does anyone else feel that some movies are not rated strongly enough with our children in mind.

I'm not sure how the ratings in Canada work, but for some time I've felt that the ratings have been "off". It just seems to me that what the MPAA considers to be PG, isn't all that PG to me, if that makes sense. The major studios can and do appeal their ratings to get them lowered. Some movies that were initially rated NC-17 were appealed and their ratings made more consumer friendly. My kids are still pretty young, so my wife and I screen most things our kids watch regardless of the ratings. It does seem odd that they would change just by crossing the border.
