I think it's okay for her to do it. We're in the modern times and one should not be afraid of expressing feelings. Just tell her not to expect anything from the guy, she should be prepared whatever his reaction would be

I think it's cute, and I definetly want to be that guy. I love getting love letters. Some people can say to others thay love him, so they send letters like your friend did. But I don't understand why it was in French? They guy is speaking French? Anyway, I think that after that letter she should go to him and say face to face that she loves him. She doesn't need to be afraid. She doesn't have anything to lose. And if he likes her too, they can be boyfriends and that's what she want, I guess. Tell her Good luck from me, would you ? ;)
