I have stock piles of pictures that I have painted and I am dying to get rid of. Giving them away makes me feel cheap, but I have never met anyone who has been able to sell their own paintings. After all, isn't that where the whole starving artist thing came from. Do you know a good way to sell your paintings? Have you ever sold any of your paintings?

You must take a pics of your paintings then upload it to the web, then post it in your blog. Or you can sell it on art galleries. There are many art galleries here in the Philippines but your too far away from here, they can display your artworks then sell it.

I haven't sold any. A friend who has done a lot of artwork has his own website that he showcases his paintings on. He has a reputation, though, from showing his work and has something of a following.
I always see those "starving artist" sales at various hotels - maybe there is a way to connect with those people.

You also might want to check Deviantart.com... if you scan your stuff into their site - and put it in their shops - you can sell prints of the pictures too.

There are lots of places to sell your art on the internet. Auction sites like Art By Us you can list and sell your art for free and you can try Ebay. Places like Hometown Art Gallery will let you put your art their site and sell it for free. Plus you can get your own free website at places Tripod and put your art on it. Plus try joining some art organization in your hometown. They usually have member art exhibits every year.

Yes... I do actually sell my own paintings. In fact, I sold one right before Christmas. I don't want to use an art gallery, as they take high commissions and it ends up costing me to sell. I do partake in a lot of art symposiums and that is where I get my buyers from. It works. Check with your local art society and try to get involved in symposiums and art festivals. Don't give up.... you can do it!

My ex used to buy regularly from a young lad in the us off ebay. He did pictures of comic heroes, spiderman, wolverine etc. They were really good. He used to do commision pieces as well. I think an avarage for his paintings was arond $25-$40. They were sketches like in comic book art. Colour pieces could be more expensive. Perhaps put a few on and see how it goes. xxx

I know quite a few people who sell there works.
The main thing is promote your work. have you got a website? da account? these are useful for finding people who like your work and would like to buy it.
Once you setup up a base you can go from there. ask your friends and family to mention your art work.
