Hello friends and honorable members of the site. How do you determine whether a specific response is the best of all your responses? Sometimes we get so excited about an idea not knowing the deep meaning or the implications of the idea. There has been several times I come across responses that only got 2, 3 responses. And yet, the writer awards best response. There has even been instances of one respondent to a discussion and the response gets best award. How can this be for God's sake? To me, there exists nothing like best response. Everybody responds to situations differently and in different circumstances. For instance, some one asks about insomnia. A members prescribed milk before going to bed; someone says you need to think positively; another one says 2 - 3 glasses of water makes him gets over insomnia while another takes sleeping pills. In each of the cases, it worked for those that responded. How then could you say one is the best when you yourself don't even know the right from wrong approach to insomnia? Another problem is that you can not easily say someone has the best respopnse when the others are yet to contribute. Sometimes I come across discussions posted over 3, 4, 5 months ago and I still put in my response. I came across a discussion posted about 30 minutes ago. Only 2 persons have put in their responses and the writer had already awarded best response. I quickly flipped over the discussion because I guess the writer does not want any more comments. After all, he already found the best response. What do you say please?

Yes, I agree some people do seem to pick a best response far too quickly and then again others never do pick one! Personally I like to wait at least a week before picking a best response and even then if i have only had a couple of replies i will leave the topic open until I have a few more to pick from. I always try to give a best response to the person who has put the most thought into their reply.

I always wait for a good period of time so that I am able to go over various persons responses, and slowly decide who is the best response.

hi,i had a laugh after a long time by seeing your narration on insomnia...that type of members also participating..so leave it.come to discussion..it may be happening like this, some members become understanding to give best responses to each other even they recieve their friends response as first response.I left so many responses without giving best responses as i didn't get satisfaction.all the best.

Yes I agree that to many people pick a best response to quickly. While how someone can choose a best response is up to personal preference. If that person feels that it was the best answer that it answered their question and gave them the info they needed. I have given best respnses to people not just because they agree with me but because I feel they took the time to really think out their answer. I like to wait for awhile before I give best responses to a discussion because as you say there always might be a better one. I wish that there was a way to give more then one maybe two or three because sometimes after I have given a best response mark others have responded to my discussions and have given really good answers as well. thats not to say i made a mistake marking the other one but also liked the new answer.
