Do they still use maggots to clean debris off of wounds? I seen this one time. It was quite revolting. I haven't heard of it for a while, so hence the question. I seen them used on a case of gangrene.

Yes, maggots are still used! (they have made a comeback might be the better choice of words) They are maggots that have been grown in a lab so that they have no 'germs' or anything. They are in a little container and are placed on the would very carefully...and counted. Then a bandage is applied and the maggots are counted at each dressing change. They really do clean a wound very nicely! They aren't used a great deal like other methods of wound cleaning, but they are by far NOT a thing of the past!
