My windows updates are not installing after downloading. Does anyone know why this keeps happening or what I can do to fix this problem? I want to make sure my computer is safe and runs smoothly. It downloads okay but when it tries to install them it says they failed.

Do you have a anti-virus program that may be stopping them? I know when I try to download and install if I don't tell my antivirus to let them go through it will stop them from intalling.

Try deleting the updates, then downloading them again. Sometimes they don't seem to come through properly, so a second try makes it work. If that doesn't work, go to this link and read some possible solutions.

It could be a result of several things, so you will need to deal with it in a trial and error manner.
It could be a specific update that is causing the conflict, in which case you could change the settings of Windows Update to let you select the installations manually and hopefully succeed with the ones that are not conflicting.
There is also the possibility of Windows Update itself being the problem, so you could uninstall it via the Control Panel and go to the website and reinstall it.
I think that my first choice would be to run System Restore to a point before the problem arose, and hope that when the system downloads the updates again they will not present a problem.

Sorry to hear that you're having a problem with that and I am so sorry but I have no clue what is happening with your windows, my husband usually takes care of our computers. So, I hope you'll find out the answer pretty soon.
