Get Avatars Mylot People!

I haven't been here that long, but long enough. When I see someone with the standard avatar I assume they are new. Once someone changes their avatar I figure they are serious about this place and they are going to stick around. Change your avatar, get more friends, and more of your discussions will get responses. :)

Can you post a link as to where and how to add these avatars? Is there a website, or do you just go under photos here on my lot. I'm not getting how to do it and maybe that is why others don't do it as well.

I'm confused -- you already changed your avatar to the waterlilies picture.

YES!! Bungirl I'm glad you could read my mind. I am such a techno-peasant. That link was exactly what I was looking for :)

I agree. There are a lot of members with the standard one and I also feel bored when I look at those. I think its nice to have your own avatar. Another thing, have you see some are useing the same avatar as another? I think this should be stopped cos avatar shows your individuality and when two three people use the same one, the purpose is lost.

I've noticed that too. Someone who just joined (no names will be mentioned) stole the avatar of someone else who's been around a long time. At first I thought it was the same person until I started reading her stuff. Seems pretty rude to me to steal someone else's image.

i would have to agree with you, but you also have to think that some people do not really understand how to upload pictures.

Yours is fine Marie, it's the generic green ones that need to be changed.

You know, you're probably right about that. I never linked my avatar to the fact that I started getting more responses here on Mylot, but that might have been at least part of it. I was just too busy and excited about posting all day long for me to bother changing it (especially since I am not that visual of a person and don't really worry about things like avatars that much, lol *laugh*) until I hit at least 500 posts. Of course, for me that was only about five days, lol! ^_~ But yes I do believe that i started to get more replies after I changed to my snowflake avatar. I thought that it was just because I had more friends on my list by then and I posted some slightly more interesting topics. But yep, I really do think that my avatar probably helped, as well. Looking now at people who haven't changed theirs yet does give me a feeling that they are new.

Thats exactly what I tell people when they ask how to get more responses. I always suggest that they get an avatar. I don't mean to, but I tend to pass over the standard ones. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I think people get noticed more with their own avatar.

I agree -- people need to lose the standard avatar. Why would anyone want to be that forgettable on a site like this one?
