I'm new to mylot and have been looking for discussions on my favorite tv show: Battlestar Galactica. I'm suprised that there are so few discussions listed for this topic. Is no one actually watching this great show? or there just a lack of discussions because it has been hiatus for a month? New episode this Sunday on Sci-fi, y'all! Who's watching?

Great show! I was a fan of the original, so I thought I'd check out this one. The good thing is they didn't try to duplicate the original, they are creating an original in its own right. My guess is that with the show on hiatus, so are the discussions. That may all change come Monday morning. What's been the hardest thing for you to get your head around about this show? Mine was Starbuck. I loved the way Apollo and Starbuck acted like two high school boys in the original, always trying to one-up the other. They have carried that over here, but the chemistry is different with a guy and girl. And, of course, now we have to deal with them falling in love. THAT never happened in the original! But, that's what makes this worth watching; it's not the original, it is original on its own.

I agree with you on a bunch of points! I did watch some of the original series in reruns, and really liked the sort of "mythology" it created, but never really got into it. I love that the new show just took that mythology as a basis and has really expanded on it and fleshed out the characters(of course, it has had more time to do so, since the original show didn't last two seasons). And don't get me started on the change in Baltar and the Cylons from the original, that is some good crap I love when shows give the "bad guys" actual motivation, not just "kill, Kill, KILL!" I can't wait to see what happens Sunday night!

I agree with the Starbuck thing. I grew up with the original and that was the first thing that almost stopped me from watching the new series. But, I got hooked when they got into the religious and spiritual aspects of the show. I love all the detail they've added. They also made the show more realistic militarily. It's like life would be on a submarine.

It does seem as if there are just not enough of us SciFi fans to keep discussions on our favorite scifi shows going. My problem is that I missed a couple of the last few episodes and then it is not on, or if it is it is on sporadically so I can't even catch the reruns for the shows I missed, it is frustrating, and causes me to lose interest in a series when the stations that air them do this kind of thing.

I hear you. I'm totally bummed that we won't see any new episodes of BSG until 2008! I haven't even seen them playing reruns, so your right, they could actually lose viewers because people will stop looking for it.

I like the show, unfortunately my husband doesn't. I'll have to hint to my son to get me the dvds. I like the new one better than the old one, except that all the writing is in English and they dress like we do. Now if they had different type costumes and the writing was in a strange script like they had in Andromeda, it would be more interesting. It makes one think that perhaps it is set in the future, except they believe in gods and goddesses like the ancient Greeks.

I'm a huge battlestar fan, going back to the original series. I was so stoked when it rolled around again because now I get to share it with my kids. It looks like thew list is fairly lively.

Gee, I hope your kids aren't too young! The new BSG has a lot more "adult content" than the original (ah! the freedom of cable).

I have only seen a couple of the episodes so far. And, I like what I have seen. I am putting some of the episodes on my free movie blog so that I can watch them whenever I want. Lots of fun!
