The general impression among the Muslims of the world is that they are being persecuted, by being singled out. The impression seems to have become strong, as prayer houses are being misused by preachers to generate hatred of other religions. The main problem is Islam is treating its followers as sheep and denying them their human rights. For example, burqa (veil) for women is barbaric. Even educated Muslims know it. They are unable to stop it because they are in a minority. Taslima Nasreen is a Bengali writer from Bangla Desh who tried to protest and draw the attention of the world towards the plight of the women. She has been expelled from her own country. Her life was in danger because the clerics were behind her. She went to countries like Sweden, Germany, France in search of security for her life. India recently granted her temporary azylum. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board is already behind her. They want her to be driven out. Her crime is : she wrote an article in an English weekly questioning the veil. Actually, the Bengali writer is doing what the Muslim Law Board should have done voluntarily and on its own initiative. Why it has not done? Is the Board not concerned about the plight of women of their own religion? The Board does not do. It will not allow others of their own religion to point out. It does not want people of other religion to point out. Then how do the women become free citizens? The ruling party in INdia is in dire need of Muslim votes. Anyday, Taslima Nasreen will get "Get out orders".
