I love food and all my adult life I have been on 1 diet or another . I have found that I now love steamed veg and meat ( chicken fillets mostly ) I thought I was doing so well then someone said that steaming your food will put on weight . Please will someone tell me if this is true and if so why.It must be a lot healthier than many other ways . I have also bought a juicer but not sure what is the healthiest and least fattening fruit.

Like you, I love to eat and am forever trying to lose some weight. Your choices of steamed vegetables and lean protein for a meal are excellent; it's best to fill up on more vegetables and stay away from a lot of carbs (rice, potatoes, pasta) if you can. The vegetables are the best carbs for you, and steaming is the best way to cook them. Don't worry, there is no way that steaming will cause you to put on weight.
Vegetables are great because they fill you up, they are generally relatively low in calories, and they are high in fiber. Just watch what you put on them. If you smother them in butter or cheese sauce then you defeat the purpose.
Watch out for the fruit juice. Fruit is naturally high in sugar, and when you consume it in the form of juice you can get a lot of extra calories. The best fruits (lowest sugar)are citrus (oranges, grapefruit, tangerines), pears, apples, and all kinds of berries. Stay away from pineapple, bananas, peaches, and watermelon. These are higher in sugar.
Good Luck! It's a never-ending battle, isn't it?
