Ever since I've started using computers way way back, I have always been amazed by the different compression programs. Like for example during the times of the 386 and 486 machines, we always use D.O.S. compression programs like PKZIP to make our files fit on a floppy diskettes. Still at present, I do a lot of digital compression on my PC, like MP3 for my audio files, MP4/DivX for my video, and Winzip/WinRar,PDF for my other files. I feel my PC is not complete without all those programs installed. I'm just wondering they are all good in their performance right now. What more can they think of next, ten years from now?

This is only the start. Wait until solid state memory comes, and see what happens. No disk drive, just pure electronics, like in cameras. The codes will have to change a bit, because solid state doesn't have any mechanical functions, no hot drives, etc.
What we're using now will look like stone tablets.

Yeah. IT and the Internet is developing by the second. I think it is fairly safe to say that about 10 years from now, we can store a full-movie into a floppy disk, that is, IF floppy disks still exist during that time. And it is rarely even used nowadays. =P
