I had a high school sweetheart. I met him in the 6th grade. He asked me to be his girlfriend and then he dumped me about 2 weeks later because my mom and dad wouldnt let me go over to his house. I also found out that he had 2 other girlfriends at the same time as me. Later on we moved and I went to a different school so I didnt see him for a long time until I was 20. I met him again at a friends house. He asked me to go out with him so silly me did. Well one thing led to another and now we have a daughter that is 14. He left me as soon as he found out I was pregnant and my daughter has only seen him 4 times in her life because he chooses not to be a part of her. He waited until she was 6 years old before he ever told his mom and dad he had a child. So even the grandparents didnt know they had a grandbaby. Well the grandparents started seeing my daughter and now they have also disappeared out of her life. I have been married to my husband now for 12 years and he has been a father figure for my daughter since she was 9 months old and she knows him as and calls him daddy. My husband called my daughters birth father up one day and asked him if he could adopt here and my childs dad said give me a couple days to think about it, so we did. Well a couple days went by and we heard nothing so we called again and her dad said no you cant adopt her because i get to claim her on my taxes every 2 years. Aint that awful?

thats really awful! i think your daughter is better off not having her biological father in her life! she's better off with your husband who proved what being a fatherly figure is all about! you are indeed lucky to have such a person as a life partner! As for that materialistic high school jerk avoid all contact with him, nothing good can come of his presence! Good luck with raising your daughter and a resounding BRAVO to your husband!

Ahh high school, so many memories of the past whether they make a tear of joy trickle down you eye or whether they just open up wounds that have healed, we all had some high school memories that we remember every often and as you know with all the teenagers in high school, love or in some cases lust does take place. Similarly I had 2 relationships in high school that lasted for quite a while, but in the end it all came to an abrupt halt. There are some that continued the relationship and frankly I feel they are very fortunate. But as many good things come to an end ... So does relationships.
