Tax forms being as complex as they are, its easy to make mistakes if you are filing them on your own. Sometimes these mistakes trigger an audit. what's the best way to avoid making tax mistakes which could trigger an audit? greetings. : )

my husband and i always hire a professional to do our taxes every year to make sure we don't make mistake, you can buy those software to file taxes but you cannot use it the following year, you need to buy a new one coz taxes changes each year. when i was back there in the phils. i never file taxes. what do you do for a living that you need to file taxes coz i know you don't get a tax back there every year unlike here in the US.

I would recommend using a tax software program you can buy, or one you can use online. These will do all the calculations for you, so you know there won't be any mistakes in figuring the numbers. The software also can help with complex forms, etc. because they're designed to take different scenarios into account. In the U.S. you can use free online filing software if your income is below a certain level. And some states have their own online programs, which are free.

I usually just double check and see if I have all ther right numbers in the right places. So, far that is working for me.
