He was nice enough to begin with. Fast and nice. But now, I am upset, and on the road to find another! He won't give me test results over the phone. Normal tests he sends via letter.....so I had a pelvic u/s. Now I don't think these gals knew what they were doing...but my bladder may not have been full enough. In any case he won't give me the results over the phone. The techs told me everything looked okay..... so I made an appt to talk with him. The receptionist came out to the the lobby to ask me if I could tell my children to move to the side, they were in the middle of the waiting room, and people had to walk around them....Okay She then tells me that they can't come back with me because HE doesn't allow kids in the room....Now I am not being examined! I am there to talk test results. The receptionist then suggests that I leave the kids in the lobby...ya right. I then switch gynes, call the office again, and they tell me it's 40 bucks to have records transferred to a new office....what????!!! I was only there once. What a ridiulcous bunch. i think I'll just get my two test results and be done with it. Of course I'll have to go to medical records....ISn't this a hoot?

It should cost you anything for the records if you have the other doctor request them. If you are requesting the records so that you may hand care them to the next doctor of choice, then yes, they will charge you for copying the records. Stupid, I agree. But the best bet is to just find another doctor and then fill out a form that allows them to request the records. I would want to change doctors too. They don't sound very friendly!

They don't sound friendly. He was nice during my pap smear...but everything else nasty and cold. I changed doctors, and Monday I will go to the medical records office to get my pelvic u/s results they wouldn't give me over the phone. It seems to me they didn't want to deal with me for some reason.....Unless they treat all patients like this. Maybe that's why he charges so much for medical records.

I would most definately be changing gyne's... To start its an awkward visit anyways-- They are supposed to make you feel comfortable- not alienate you. Leave your kids in the lobby?? Hello-- are they flipping nuts. Must be they don't read the papers or the news and see how many kids are taken daily. You have every right to vent. I can call my ob/gyn doctor and they will give me results over the phone. If there is a problem (my friend had one) they will just say they found something- would you like to come in-- they still give you the choice of over the phone or visit. Do they charge you to come in and get the results?? What a crock! $40 to transfer the results to another doctor? CRAZY! I've transferred my whole file to another doctor and my daughters (both weren't ob/gyn docs) and it was free! Quick- run go find a new one!

I did! Thank you for validating my opinion. These doctors out here in Joliet Il, are nutso...I just think charging that much for records is just another way to make money...and it is a sham! Have a great weekend!

Sounds like a real pain in the butt. Just change ta different Dr.. They find a way to get money out of you one way or another. Lots are doing the money for medical records now. Just be one with him.

Be one with him? I did change doctors. NOt all medical offices are like that. It is ridiculous, just another way to make money off of a patient! It's ridiculous! It's a sign of a bad doctor I think.

It is disgraceful. These things are happening more and more. Doctors are not dedicated as they once were. Most of them only care about the $$$$. Another visit, is extra money in his pocket. No compassion for the kids, not uncommon either. Everything is money oriented.

Sure does not sound very accomodating to me. It seems to me that YOU own those records, and if you are willing to hand carry them they should not charge you to change them to another gyn. office. I hate to have to jump through hoops, and I feel for you. Good luck. I think I would ask some questions about how they handle test results before I went to another doctor, to make sure the same thing does not happen again.
