A World Without Money

I've wondered the same thing. If there were no money and everyone could take what was needed, then no one would have to be without. But yet, what would stop people from taking more than what they needed? And if they only had to take what they needed...who would provide it? I think, well, we would all be good at something and contribute to our neighbors. But then we already have people out there that live for free on welfare with the tax payers money. Would that get worse to the point that some would just take and take and never give? Would that upset those that do continue to give and put in hard work to contribute to stop giving and working? Or say that we are given just what is needed to survive and those that wanted other things would have to give to receive. Wait...then there would be bartering. That barter would turn into a form of money. My art work would get me a certain dress that someone else is good at. Thus, I would still be buying, right? Just with a different form of money. As much as I wish we could live like that, I don't think we can. We have so many different types of people...givers, takers, hard workers, lazy workers, people that are materialistic and people that are minimalists. With such differences comes conflicts. And, I guess money is a way to have those different life styles. But if it were possible...what a world that would be! :)

I think we would be better off. I am glad you brought this subject up. Isnt this really what causes so much violence. Its because they want power and money gives them power? If everyone were equal financialy then they have no reason to be jealous. Do you think the power crazies would just try to steal the system back into a control thing?

Yes, I can imagine that. I see a little kid laughing and saying to another : - Haha, you're so poor. I got five sheeps, you only got one chicken..!
