Florida fossil hunting....

Florida is enriched with fossils, we are ranked #5 in us mineral production. We have calcite, dolmonite, and many rare crystals that grow in the cavens deep in the ocala forests.
Fossils are abundant here and check out ebay, they can sell for a pretty penny. :) Florida sitsd on a huge limestone plate that has gone through many phases. Florida has sunk and rose 3 times through history and leaving behind prehistoric fossils in the limestone rock.
this limestones is mined for our roads, you can walk up anywhere there is limestone and pull out some awesome fossils there. :)
this is a cheap way to find treasure without a metal detecting.

Tiggyann I find your treasure-hunting posts fascinating! I wonder if it's possible to do anything like that here in Ireland? Although most of the land here seems to be private - there seem to be very few 'public places' here unfortunately.
Have you found many fossils?

Wow1 That sounds exciting. I had no idea Florida had that many fossils. I have never been been to Florida but hope to visit is this summer. Thanks for the info. Now I am excited to visit
