Suggest me which is best ?Hardware field or Software field

My brother is doing first year in an Engineer college,He asked me which field he should take , Whether hardware or software ? And which field will have good scope in the future.
post your suggestions such that ,I can decide and mould him to the field from now onwards.

i think software feild then you can do be expert by yourself and earn money them hardware feid,hardware feild is little problem for handling but software is easy to handle
