They always say that friendship is a very strong foundation when it comes to love. I somehow believe this cos before you start a relationship with someone, you'll get to know each other first that will result to frienship, and from friendship you'll be able to distinguish your feelings on how you really feel, is it love or just friends? But it could be possible as well to happen with what you mentioned the love that wouls result to strong frienship, i mean maybe you are feeling the love but for some reason it just wont happen betweeen the two persons involve so you might end up having a stong friendship.

Either of the two will do. But a love that starts from friendship then failed is hard to turn it back to friendship. Its really hard to invest so much emotion when you fall in love then suddenly gone. You can still be friends but a gap will surely build in between of you. So sometimes I think its better to keep friendship as friendship and if you love your friend you have to inform her/his from the start to avoid the sense of betrayal.
