ear infections and acid reflux

I have a 5 month old that happens to have a problem with acid reflux. I found out yesterday that his excessive fussiness for the last couple days is because he has an ear infection in each ear. I have antibiotics to treat it, but they told me that babies with reflux tend to have chronic ear infections. Does anyone have any suggestions to try to prevent these ear infections? He is completely miserable, and I would rather prevent them than treat them after the fact from now on.
