Do you bribe your kids?

Do you bribe your kids? To eat dinner, to go to bed, to potty train? Anything? We find ourselves bribing our kids a lot-and we don't think its a good thing-but they seem to take to getting a treat-sometimes we find ourselves giving in about it...but try not to!

I do the whole sticker chart thing, then once they earn a certain amount they get to pick what their prize is. Or they work towards something. Potty training same thing, sticker chart. Come on' kids love stickers or those temporary tattoes. Our biggest challenge is trying to get my 4 year old to stay in her own bed all night! Our 1 year old does but my daughter sneaks in at some point in the middle of the night! We're working on it though. :)

No..but I reward them when they have done something good...and I don't reward them with sweets or food...Going to bed is a must..no reward earned...eating is also a no reward situation..though I have never forced my children to eat food...if they are not hungry..then they are not...but they don't get dessert later. Potty training..is a situation in which you reward the child...

we don't reward with sweets either. i ahve one kid that'll eat anything, and an another who'll only eat 5 foods, if that. going to bed...its more like they don't stay in their bed but an hour or so.

Not like I used to. I realized they just expect more if you bribe them.

No, never have and never will, but never is a long, long time. And, maybe, I should have.

Sometimes we are forced to do it. Its not bribe but its reward. I have to tell my kids it you do this well, i will give you that. Its not like a bribe, since a bribe, you give first.

Yes-I do. Especially to get him to behave in public. I think lots of other parents do it too. It just happens, like poop in diapers.

I catch myself bribing, but I try to do the opposite. Take away things that they could normally have or do if they do not listen. It seems to be working for me. It's tough to see the child so sad and upset when they lose a privilege, but they get used to it, and eventually start listening. Parenting is so tough sometime, isn't it.
