I need some tips on how to take away some of these symptoms. They aren't PMS anymore...it's actually "that time". LOL I am hurting SOOO bad...stomach cramps and aching back...headache...muscle aches. YUCK!
I am 36 and should know how to take care of these symptoms, but every month I go thru the same thing and NOTHING I have tried works!
Anyone have any home remedies?

sounds like you need muscle relaxers! I've heard that evening primrose oil helps. I've found some of those sleeptime tea that is for moon cycles. I don't know what you have tried but I've always been told to stay away from caffiene and dairy products 1-2 weeks before. My dr. told me if you need caffiene then go with chocolate. Also seek help advice from you r Dr. true typical response they know your history and you might need your hormones changed. I hope you feel better soon.

i will have to try the evening primrose oil. I, too, have been told about the caffeine, but LORDY I already feel like crap and then I have to do away with my sanity, too! LOL The thing is, too, that I never know when I will start. I skip a month or two here and there and I'm never on time.
Thanks so much for your suggestion...I will have to go the health food store .

When you use evening primrose oil, you should make sure that you take this supplement daily or it won't work properly. It really does help. I have taken it for having severe eczema, but it is also good for other things. You should do some research online before you take it though. A great site to read up on it is:

1. Reduce sugar and salt intake. Increase foods rich in potassium, such as fish, beans, and broccoli.
2. Vitamin B6 and magnesium appears to benefit women with cramps and mood swings.
3. Increase intake of fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds, and fish.
4. Calcium may be beneficial for women with premenstrual cramps and moodiness.
5. Regular aerobic exercise and yoga reduce anxiety, pain and water retention.
6. Herbs such as kava kava and black cohosh can also help.

I'm the same age, and know exactly what you are going through, it happens each month for me....a lot of pain and cramping. When this dreaded week comes for me, I the first day or two will grab the heating pad, warm clothes, a cup of chamomille or I've heard now raspberry leaf tea works, some MIDOL (absolute must), and muscle relaxers if I have them, or even Aleve has worked before. Avoid fatty foods, greasy foods and caffeine because these tend to make your symptoms worse. A warm relaxing bath can ease your symptoms also. If nothing over the counter or any other home remedies work, you definately need to make the dreaded trip to the gynocologist to see if you suffer from anything else female related that could be causing such pain and cramping, I did and they prescribed Celebrax for me which works really well.

great tips! thanks so much! i am on the atkins diet so i am eating more fatty type greasier foods than i normally do. maybe that's why i am so bad this month. i am always bad, but this month is double what it normally is.
i have to go to the store tomorrow, so i will pick up some chamomille tea. thank you

Using a heating pad on your stomach area can help with the cramps. There are some over the counter meds that do help with the headache, muscle aches and cramps. Also try using some chamomille tea. It is very relaxing and if you can relax that is important. As the other poster mentioned also check with your doctor, they might be able to help.

I have tried midol and all that and it does nothing for me. Not sure why, but it doesn't. The heating pad is a good idea, tho. I remember I used to use one when I was a teenager. Thatnks for the reminder!
I know that being up with my son throwing up last night didn't help my "relaxing" any. LOL Tonight, everyone feels good so I am going to put them to bed and take a long hot bath. HOPEFULLY!!! LOL
Thank you

I agree with you. I was going to recommend this as well. Last month, when I was having cramps, I did yoga and helped tremendously. I would try to implement some of this into your life whenever you can find time to do it. It doesn't have to take an hour; you can actually do certain yoga positions while just sitting down and watching television. Here is a great site that teaches you how to do different yoga positions while you are just sitting around:
