Do you prefer single or double bowl sinks?

We're getting new counter tops and an undermount sink and don't know if we should go double or single. My sister likes the large single bowl sink so you can fit lots large of pots and pans so they can soak. I'm not sure if I like having a dish drainer on the counter though. Which do you prefer?

I prefer a double! I can't stand single sinks. A double is great for washing and rinsing dishes. Also, with a double you are able to put something like meat to defrost in one sink and still have the other sink to wash your hands, put dishes, etc. I don't plan on ever having a single sink again, its just too much hassle!

I would go with the double sink myself. I like have a place to rinse the dishes. It also gives me a place to thaw my food and still be able to use the sink, for everyday things. I also have a cutting board that fits over one side of the sink so it makes for easy preparation of veggies.

I prefer a double. If you have dishes sitting or soaking you always have at least one open sink. It is also nice if you have a portable dishwasher to have one sink open all the time too. I also like to be able to simply soak things without worrying that I have to unplug it to do something else and resoak again.

I have had single bowl and double bowl sinks and I much prefer the double bowl sinks. There are many kinds of sinks on the market, and you can find a double bowl sink that has one side deeper than the other. I also found that stainless steel is the easiest to keep clean, and it stays newer looking longer. The reason I like the double bowl sink is that you can wash dishes and let them drain directly into the drain, or when cooking, you can keep hot soapy water on hand, and still have an empty sink for washing veggies and meats.

I like a single sink and a dishdrainer. I can then leave the dishes to drain rather than having to dry them up as I always think this puts more germs on them. I never really see the point of having a second sink, what would you use it for?
