Again, that depends upon your flavor, so to speak.
If you want quite but still near enough to a lot
of activities and culture, I suggest New Hampshire
or Massachusetts. If you don't want to deal with
too much winter but still want all four seasons,
try Washington (state not D.C.) Oregon or northern
California. If you want to be close to both the
nations capital and New York, perhaps Virginia or
Pennsylvania. If you want it hot most of the year,
the only state I would go is Florida. Not the best
place for culture but an excellent place for cultural
diversity, without the gangs of southern California.
The mid west is a completely different world. I've
lived there as well and could not put up with the
frigid winters, the tornadoes and the floods.
I've given you plenty of choices where I've lived
and visited for pleasure or business. My favorite
would be either Massachusetts or Oregon for overall
appeal.

Wow but you are thorough:) Florida sounds good, seeing that I currently stay in a coastal town, with summer temp. of 42C and mild winters of 28C. But I have never stayed in a very cold climate, so it will perhaps be a good experience to have snow in winter, as I have never seen snow in my entire life. I see your favorite is Massachusetts, I will do some research, it kind of narrows it down if you speak to people with knowledge of the different states because America is so HUGE! Thx again for your input much appreciated.

No problem. Massachusetts is my favorite for
the following reasons. It does have all four
seasons. It has excellent schools. It is the
heart of our nations history. There is plenty
of culture and cultural diversity. You can live
in or near the city or out in the country. It
is also close enough to New York city. You have
the best of both worlds, shore and the mountains.

Where you might want to live depends on What kind of living you make and what kind of surrounding area you like. I'am living in South Carolina at the presant time. The intersate highway views are blocked by rows and rows of trees. I have yet to see any real country. We go from one town to another. I came from the plains states in the middle of the country. When you drive down the interstate highway You can see for miles and miles across the piaries with the grass or wheat waving in the wind. The weather there is not as humid as along the coast there for dose not feel as hotas along the coast. Sometimes it dose get cold and snowy. Right now they are haveing to close roads because of the unusully heave snows this year. The large cities are fewer than along the coast too.

This is what makes MyLot so wonderful. Places that you only have heard of, through the news and in movies, takes on a kind of reality when real people from those places communicate to you. America is such a vast country, and to hear from people that are living there, and their opinions is just wonderful. Presently we live on the eastern coast of South-Africa. It is very hot and humid. My husband has his own business, and is almost at retiring age, we are starting to look at different countries and options. The high crime rate here makes it very difficult, dangerous and very expensive. Elderly people are easy targets, and to secure yourself involves high insurance, CCTV, etc. etc. that we have decided that we are not going to spend our live savings further on this, it is heart and back breaking stuff. It is still a while to go, we will have to sell the business and that alone is a very long process. Most South Africans go to New-Zealand, Australia or the UK, so I thought let me ask here on MyLot about America

Annieeeeee,
Don't give in to Mass. too quick! I have friend from South Africa, and so does my mom. Mine now lives in Maryland. I live in Pa. If you have never seen snow, you have to come to Pa. You would love it!
