How do you copywrite something?

Okay, in another discussion i was reminded to copywrite, ummm yeah i don't know how? I write a lot of stuff, and post it online all the time, not here mind you, but other places... and well, now i need to know how to copywrite, because if i'm going to get into writing a lot more stuff, i'm gona need to know how... Anyone who can help, let me know Thanx a bundle.

All original work is automatically copywrited. You can register it, but that's not necessary. All you really need is the piece itself, with some sort of date/time verification.

Everything you write that is your own original work is automatically copyrighted. Sometimes you will have to do something more to prove that you were the first person to do this. What you can do is deposit a copy in a bank or with a lawyer in a sealed envelope, with a date stamp on it certifying when it was deposited. There may be other official places that you can get your work certified as well.
