I think the present crop of players don't have that much appetite of emulating a kapil.
Also, cricket gives a kapil may be probably once in a century. It's just about a few years after his retirement. So, it's too soon looking for one.
I remember people looking upon agarkar, zaheer khan and pathan to come anywhere near him, but they didn't even make the grade of a mohinder amarnath or ravi shastri, let alone a manoj prabhakar.
Above all, cricket has become more demanding physically and mentally with more number of matches played in every calender year. It makes an allrounder's job very difficult as he is not able to concentrate on all his batting and bowling performances.
Agreed, there's still a jacqes kallis and shaun pollock, but that's what I exactly meant by saying that none of the present indian players have sufficient appetite to become allrounders, let alone a kapil.
Maybe our children or grand children will have the oppurtunity of having one, but I doubt whether we will have that oppurtunity in our lifetime again. Thanks.
