Probability is a fairly new topic that was recently reintroduced into Standard Grade maths.
The best way to describe this is to give a few examples.
Probability is defined as (number of favourable outcomes) / ( total number of outcomes)
Example 1
A pack of cards is shuffled and then a card is selected at random.
What is the probability that a red card is drawn from the pack.
In a pack of cards there are 52 cards in total and 26 red cards.
Probability Red card = (26) / (52) = 1/2
Example 2
A die is rolled. What is the probability that a 6 turns up.
There is only 1 six on a die. There are a total of 6 numbers.
Probability 6 = (1) / (6) = 1/6
What is the probability of an even number coming up if a die is rolled?
There are 3 even numbers on a die. (2, 4, 6) There are a total of 6 numbers.
Probability Even number = (3) / (6) = 1/2
Good Luck.

And P is the symbol for probability
and ~P is the symbol for not having probability.
Fraction form is = Numerator on top and Denominator on bottom,
Equvilelent is the fractioned of the same amount.
Is some other notes I had on Probability.
