I love to sew, knit, quilt, cook, make scrapbooks and bake along with many other hobbies. In todays society, there is no longer a need to purchase patterns for your hobbies. There are many sites that offer free patterns. Provo Craft is a commercial company that makes alot of craft supplies from fancy sissors for scrapbooking to crafing paper and everything in between. They have an online site that is available for free with lots of free patterns. The patterns are listed in these catagories:
Scrapbooking
Paper crafting
Kids
Home Decor
Crafts
They also have the patterns listed by the product used. For example:
Knifty knitter
PC Tools
and many more
They also list the degree of knowledge that is required to make the craft. For instance, the directions for the "grow older with me" scrapbook is for intermediate level of skill. It will take you 120 minutes to complete this project. It can be found here:
http://www.provocraft.com/projects/projects.php?prdindex=sizzix&dsp=project&idnum=164
Each pattern has a link to download a printable copy of the pattern.
The main page is found here:
http://www.provocraft.com/projects/index.php
You will find the weekly freatured projects on this page. Click on the links on the left to find other project patterns.

I hope that is a compliment. LOL I try to make my brain think as much as I can. The best way to do this is by increasing knowledge and talents on a daily basis.

I also like www.pagemaps.com for scrapbooking layouts. And nothing beats Crayola.com for projects for the kids, they have tons and tons of arts and crafts projects for every occasion on their site. I still like to sit down with a magazine or book of crafts and ideas. But when you want something specific you know you can find it on the internet.
Thanks for these sites I am adding the ProvoCraft to my favorites.

I am so glad that the companies are jumping on the internet bandwagon.
I remember some years back reading about a compnay that busted an internet group for exchanging patterns via the group. The aveage age of the ladies was something like 73, all of them were on a fixed income and basically were trying to make do with what they had.
What aggravates me are places like limewire, where you can download anything and everything for free and people think it is legal.
Come on, microsoft office, music, movies, how can yo believe that and then they get upset when they realize tey got a virus from the files they downloaded.

I am constantly amazed at how money can make some people just go crazy. Companies are not going to loose anything by having patterns online. There are still many people who are going to buy them. I
I stay away from sites like that. I dont want a virus and i try to be honest in all my dealings. Breaking copyright lawas is not honest

This site sounds great, I'm the same as you, have a lot of different hobbies and always wanting to try new things but I don't want and can't afford to buy patterns for things I don't even know if I'll like once I try it. Free patterns are just what I need, thank you for this information

Thanks for this link. I have a nifty knitter, just one of the rectangular ones. I am enjoying it, although I have yet to complete my first project. I know there are lots of freebies available.

I love that site! I also go to LionBrand for knitting and crocheting patterns. I love crafting in my spare time, which I just don't seem to have enough time for.
Thanks for posting the site and links.

Just like you, I love doing handricrafts, however I find that they seem to be something "old fashioned", at least where I live. Many of the handicraft shops have now closed and it is difficult getting not only patterns, but things like wool and floss. I am lucky that my mother lives in Canada and she is the one that sends me patterns and the materials I need. As far as floss, one can get Anchor here, but not DMC!

That is really good to know. I crochet and like to cook when I have the time like most of us in the real world. Thanks again for the info.

Thanks for the links, good ideas are welcome. There are a lot of crafts that I have never tried or learned properly, better start learning a little at a time.
Some skills could be developed really far, like knitting and crocheting, once we know the basics.

That is interesting, I am not that great of a crafter, but I really hope to be. There are a few things that I do want to try, so I am going to see the sites that you recommended...really, I just wanted to comment so that I could say that I like your new avatar, that is the cutest dog ever. Oh, the first thing I want to learn to do is make faux-flower, and arrangements...do you think they have anything there?
