Catchy Discussion

I have noticed that many of the discussions started by me have never received more than 9 respones. whereas I have come across many such discussions where the number of responses are greater than 50, etc., which leaves me perplexed, as how would such a discussion be made. Can anyone give me the perfect recipe for a catchy discussion?

Discussions that raise a reader's emotions and give another way of looking at a social standard can bring the best responses. A few weeks ago I did one about how I didn't think monogamy was natrual for humans. That particular topic crossed all sorts of geographic and religious boundaries so people felt comfortable in responding. You don't have to be controversial but try presenting your argument with a good reson for the position. It needn't be your personal position, but make the argument. Choose topics that touch on social issues eveyone must struggle with. I also try to post my discussions as "general" and then tag for the interest. It seems like I get more response that way then posting within the interest category, but that could be my imagination.

Actually, I noticed the same thing...perhaps it is right that it could be the timing & also how one labels his or her discussion...Because I find it amazing sometimes of how pretty similar discussions get varied number of resposnes, wherein one has way more replies than the other. Perhaps popular themes are also more likely to get more responses as well as those in which generally more people can relate to. Anyway, hoping that we get more responses in our discussions! =) have a wonderful day!

I do not belive that there is a perfect recepie. I think it has to do alot with timing, WHEN u ut the discussion up, how many people are online willing to respond. I belive that I have a few discussions that caught about 100 responses, but I have also several that´s got 0 =(
