Over the last 2-3 weeks I wake up every morning and feel a burning pain in my upper tummy (epigastrium). My doc feels it could be reflux and I'm on Rabeprazole with domperidone. The symptoms are getting better. I just wanna know what else precautions I should take like food habits and sleep habits. I know that this is a common condition and I hope that I get a lot of input!

Strange that you should post this topic now. I have just returned from my GP as I have had this complaint for quite some time now. This morning I felt so bad that I couldn't put my visit off any longer. He told me that the mucles in my stomach were not working to digest my food so he gave me a prescription for Motillium - 10 mg tablet. I have to take two of these about an hour before I eat anything. He also prescribed Protium - 40 mg. I have to take one of these every morning for the nausea. He gave me a long list of foods that I should avoid - like, spicey foods and citrus fruit. I don't eat these so it wasn't them that was causing the problem. If I don't feel better after a week I am going to change my GP as I didn't have much faith in this one. I felt he was in too much of a hurry to get to the next patient and really didn't have much interest in my complaint. It cost me over €100 for less than a minute in his surgery + the prescription.

White Vinegar. It really works. When you are suffering a bout of heartburn just drink a few tablespoons of white vinegar. I have many friends that have tried it and it works for them too. My hubby suffers a lot of heartburn and he carries a little bottle of white vinegar in his truck at all times. He just takes a shot of it right out of the bottle and his heartburn is gone, instantly, or just about. In just seconds it's gone.

I have been suffering acid reflux in a bad way for some months, I was told by a friend to take fish oil capsuals and I have been taking a couple every day and it seems to have solved the problem, I have since been reading up on fish oil I think it something for people to think about taking just for the health of their bodies, it is also very good in protecting your heart so I think it is something worth thinking about...
