And NO "Reservations" is not the right answer?. LOL
Remember when we were kids and every year for your Birthday you got to have your favorite meal cooked for you? (at least that is what happened in our family , we were too poor to go out to dinners)
I can remember that my favorite thing was Mom's chicken fried steak, with mashed potatoes and gravy and corn or green beans, Now for dessert- YUMMMMMMMy My favorite was angel food cake sliced in half with fresh strawberries and iced with whipped cream.
What is your favorite meal?

My grandmother used to make steak and kidney pie for me. I have never seen that offered anywhere since I came to the states.

I'd have to say BBQ Rib Eye Steak, cut thick, medium rare. On the side I like a big baked potatoe with butter and sour cream and a nice salad. For desert a delicious fresh peach cobbler. Hmmm I made myself hungry and I already had dinner. Shame on you, lol. Just kidding. I like your favorite dinner too. It sounds really good, and something I haven't made in a long long time.

My favorite would have to be roasted chicken with stuffing and gravy. Baked potatoes and broccoli. For dessert it would be pumpkin pie.
But, if I could have a choice I would love lobster with drawn butter, rice pilaf, and corn on the cob. For dessert, just a simple dish of vanilla ice-cream.

Oh your discussion brings back memories. We did get to pick what we wanted to eat on our birthday. My favorite was
Pork Tenderloin
Mashed Potatoes with Gravy
Green Beans
Corn on the Cob
candied carrots
Biscuits
And like you I love Angel food cake with fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream. YUMMY
I was raised on a farm so all the veggies were fresh. We raised our own beef and pork toos. Store bought pork does not taste anything like fresh farm raised pork. There is just no comparason. There is nothing like fresh veggies and fresh pork Tenderloin

Usually for dinner we would have brown stew and rice with some type of veggie. Or when we could afford it, we would go out for pepperoni pizza (still my absolute favorite!). Then for dessert, we would have ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins whether we could afford it or not...mom and dad always made sure there was enough money for that.

My Mom wasn't a great cook, but my favorite was her chicken and rice. She'd brown a whole chicken with cut onions. Add water to cover and long-cooking rice. A little seasonings, cover and let simmer for an hour or two. The chicken was so tender that it dropped off the bone. The rice was heavenly with the chicken broth cooked right in.
Some green beans on the side and ice cream for dessert.
I still make that chicken and rice for my husband now. He loves it.

Well, I have a couple of answers for this question. So I will tell you both answers. :)
For my birthday every year my grandma always had us over for dinner and I requested one of two things. Either Swiss steak (a small steak made in a country type gravy) with mashed potatoes and a salad with all the fixings or Spaghetti with garlic bread and salad. My grandma always made her spaghetti sauce from scratch. When it was time to eat at home the next night my dad would make me Saucy Pork Chops and rice or mashed potatoes. The Sauce was so basic but so yummy. I finally just got the recipe from him this year so I could make it myself.
Now for an everyday sort of meal...well, that is way different. I really like to make Hillshire Farms Cheddar wursts and have a handful of chips. Something easy and quick.

Currently my favorite dinner is Chicken Tacos, with refried beans and Chips & Guacamole. Very easy to make and everyone gobbles them up. When I don't have a the time to cook up the chicken and then chop it up, I swing by the local market and pick up an already roasted one. Save time and can have it on the table in less than 45 minutes. :)
