Cults . . . And How They Recruit

Recently, I've been researching cults and the recruiting methods they use to gain converts. Their very methodology is what makes them so attractive to the uninitiated.
For example, they offer hope of salvation. This is the "window dressing."
They claim to be a direct channel to God, to have answers that other groups don't.
They claim they are restoring true Christianity, which has been lost due to apostasy and corruption.
They urge new members to try out the beliefs because the time is short.

This is true, but people need to be aware that it isn't just limited to religion. The same tactics are used by people in all sorts of positions of authority in order to gain followers. That's why people should question authority.
