i currently have a stick of 128mb RAM and just ordered a 256mb stick. i have 2 slots for RAM memory and need to know if i can just plug in the 256 stick in the second slot and leave the 128 stick in there?
will i get a combined speed? or will it just use the bigger 256 stick?
im obviously not a real tech person, so i want to make sure im not gonna fry anything! lol

My son was just talking to me about this yesterday and I told him he was out of his mind. That is how long it has been since I have loked at a computer magazine! I guess if you are running windows Vista it is also supposed to vastly simplify the whole issue.

well i now have a grand whopping total of 383mb of RAM!! woopee! lol but thats far better than before..so it did add the two together, thankfully!
boy if i tried to upgrade to windows vista on this computer i would probably be spending more than if i just bought a brand new one! but this one still lives and i refuse to buy any new microsoft product until its been on the market for a couple of years and proven itself and had its bugs fixed!!
not to mention that none of my periphials (sp?) are compatable with vista..and a lot of the websites i work on arent supporting vista yet either...so..DOWN WITH VISTA! lol

yes you can, but you must buy a ram which is compatible with the motherboard.
i think you shouldn't have problems with a sdram, nyway whn you buy it, insatll it in your pc and enable it, then verify if the ram is running.
if not, that should meant that juns one slot out of two is runnins, so open your pc again and exchangethetwo ram, putting the 256mk stick in the first slot.

I'm using 512 MB RAM and my speed is ok,
what programs do you use in your pc, if you use it for some specific games you need more RAM for your PC.
If you can just order a 512 MB RAM and you'll be ok.

LOL, sometimes that makes a huge difference if you put in a smaller bit of RAM.
Did you notice programs working smoother and faster?
I recently upgraded to 512 MB and it's magically delicious.

It'l probably only use the bigger 256 mb stick, don't know why, but when i tried it out in my computer class that's what happened.
