I know we're not supposed to ask for the answers, but I've asked everyone I know, and they've come up with multiple answers for this question. a - b( x + c ) = d solve for x

you take any route and the answer you get is {(a-d)/b}-c. this can be expressed in many ways but this is the root value of x.

a-b(x+c) = d Distribute the (-b): a-bx-bc=d Subtract the a: -bx-bc=d-a Factor out a (-b): -b(x+c)=d-a Divide both sides by (-b): x+c=(d-a)/(-b) Subtract c from both sides: d-a ---- -c -b
