If you suspect someone may have a stroke you can make a simple test to know if you should call an ambulance. If it is a stroke, it is extremely important that the person comes to hospital as fast as possible. 1 - Ask the person to smile. 2 - Ask the person to say a simple sentence. (It is sunny today or something similar) 3 - Ask the person to lift both arms. If you see that some of these tasks causes difficulty, you should see that the person comes to a doctor as soon as possible. That may save their life and with fast and right treatment the stroke may not cause much harm in the future.

Hi, lifeiseasy, just reading some discussions we had a year ago. I would like to add that we can prevent stroke by using right food or food supplements to keep our body and brain in good shape. I am using food supplements from gnld.com - a great company that has been working for 50 years and gets better all the time. The salmon oil is my favorite together with the other supplements. It has kept me more alert and happier and is well known to prevent heart disease and many other health problems.

That is good information. I have seen that before, but it is always good to see it again. Thanks for passing it along to all of us here on MyLot. I wonder how many lives we'll save with that information.

Hi, checking some old discussions here. Have you met anyone that has had a stroke during the last year? I had almost forgotten about this discussion so it is good to go back sometimes. This subject is so important that it should be posted more often but now it will be visible among the newer discussions. Have a great day............

Very good post that some do need to be aware of. Also a couple of thers that I want to add to the list: 1. Not being able to stay alert 2. Ask them questions they should know, simple ones like date, time, who the president, social security number, etc. If they have difficulty pulling up the information that could indicate a problem. Please also realize that strokes can happen at any age. My one brother had one at 38 and my sister recently had to have surgery on both her carotid arteries due to blockages. She'd had a stroke and several TIAs, she's 42. So if you see those indicators do not worry about the age, get them checked out. With my sister several doctors missed it due to her being on narcotics for her back. They "assumed" it was due to her medications. It wasn't. Her one artery was 95% blocked and the other was 85% blocked. So be persistent. If you think something is wrong get the doctors to check for more then the obvious problems.
