In the Philippines, almost everyone has his or her own cellphone already. May it be a jeepney driver, a housekeeper, a contractor, maid, student, housewife, etc. And to those who knows how to drive, in most cases, when their cellphone beeps, 99% is they would answer it if it's a phone call or reply a message if it's an SMS text message. Like in my case, I do texting while driving. I know that it can cause accidents, but sometimes, I just couldn't stop myself in doing that. I'm a heavy xter that's why even if on the roads, I do text a lot. And I want to get rid of this kind of addiction. ANy tips that you could give me? are you also like this while you are driving?

We did not get a cell phone till very recently when I needed to travel a great distance to visit a sick relative (over 3600 miles) since my husband did not go with me and the children I felt it was a good idea to have the cell phone in case of emergency. I can see where texting (I have never text messaged yet though) or talking on the cell would be tempting while driving..Isn't texting difficult to do while behind the wheel? You are right that it is dangerous, not just to yourself but all those other drivers on the road as well. In some states it has become illegal to use the cell phone while you are driving and a fine is imposed on military installations if you are caught. I guess the best way to make yourself quit is to keep the phone off while in the car and put it in your glove box out of reach. focus on the road more instead of messages? hey maybe you could give text messaging up for lent ;)

Oh wow. Gee! Thanks a lot Modestah. I never expected someone to congratulate me for my 200th post. :) well, yeah, sure. For this lenten season, for sure I'm gonna be receiving and sending a lot of lenten greetings by texting. No, it's not really hard. I find texting fun indeed. I can even text without looking at the keypad already. :) Yeah, you're right. I have to discipline myself now. Thanks much for the advice :)

That is not a good habit, it can cause your life or others. We all know the saying "Don't drink if you drive, don't drive if you drunk". The same goes here, If you can't stop yourself texting then I think you should stop driving for a while. It may cost you a time but will save the possible lost of your own life. Somehow this will enlighten you a little bit but still its up to you if you still going to take the risk of practicing that unpleasant habit.
