I need a mechanic

Ok we used to go to my friend and he was great. I would cook for him and pay parts. Then he took a job at a car dealership. I went to PepBoys and they are horrible. So I went back to his old place of employment. I have not been happy. Each time we have taken my car or hubby's truck there we go pay and pick it up and end up having to bring it back cause it isn't right. We intend to use some of our tax refund to fix it but I don't know how to find a mechanic. Ok well I know how to find a mechanic but I want one that is skilled and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I also want an honest one. Anyone know how I go about finding one?

I am very blessed, for 20 years I have taken my vehicles to the same place. When I first found them they were close to my home and recommended by a neighbor. When the older gentleman that owned it sold he sold it to one of his employees who had worked there since he was in high school. He has continued with the same reputation. There've been many times someone would say they thought something was wrong with my car that would cost a lot of money to fix - when I took it in not knowing anything about cars they could have taken me for a lot of money but didn't one time they didn't charge me anything and another time it was $10. I say best way to find a good mechanic is to ask friends, neighbors, people from church or work - personal referral is always best.

Now if only I actually had some friends to ask. *sigh* I am happy that you have a good mechanic, may you never lose him.
