In Europe, Australia and even some states here in the US are trying to ban incandescent lightbulbs for the more efficient ones. Article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17364944/
Personally, I think this is a good idea even with the supposed loss of job that GE is claiming (why can't they make the light bulbs in the US? why are they coming from China??). I don't like the initial hit on my pocket book, but people have proven how much money they can save a month, how they are better for the environment, and how much longer they do last. I don't particularly like how the governments are going about it, but I guess there is no good way for they to force people to do things that are better for the environment.

The loss of jobs is something that was going to happen at some point. Many of the major companies have their plants overseas. It is the smaller companies which stay here for the most part. The real question is, why doesn't this country mandate that a certain percentage of the production and company stay within the U.S.

I don't understand why people in China can make these bulbs and people in the US cannot. Are they THAT cheap to make?
