sand filter

Have been given a sand filter from an old swimming pool, opened it up to clean it, now need to know what type of sand one puts in there with the gravel and how one layers it. Water goes down central tube, through tubes with holes at the bottom and comes up through the filter again and out the top.

I cannot help you with this one personally except to suggest that you contact a pool supply company or perhaps the manufacturer as either of them would be able to advise you which is the best type of sand to use in your filter.
