How can i make my system faster?

I have noticed that my system is running slow because i have a virus or something on my system.Its syn_sent.Any ideas how to remove syn_sent from my system.I have updated my antivirus i have cleaned my system with spybot but still they are not able to detect the virus.

When this usually happens to my primary hardrive what I do is take my hardrive out of my computer and install it on my other computer as a slave drive then I scan it there. Usually it detects things that has been left out. Try using other programs like NOD32 and TuneUP Utilities.
