First, be sure to remove any rust or rough areas by sanding lightly and wiping with a tack cloth. Apply an acrylic paint primer to the metal base and let dry. Follow with a base coat of acrylic paint in your choice of color. You may need to apply two coats. Be sure to let each coat dry thoroughly before adding another layer. You can add decals, decoupaged designs or decorative painting if you like before sealing with a good quality acrylic sealer. Let your beautiful new lamp "cure" for a few days to set the paint and display proudly!

I love to do things like this , just yesterday I sanded down my front door and gave it a coat of silk finish varnish , It can make something that looked a bit weather worn so nice and with your tip a Table lamp can look like new , even better than new in some cases . Don't you find it is such a lovely feeling when You have finished something like this ? xx
