Ok....so there are already a few discussions on this subjec. But none of them have answered my question: How do you keep from getting shocked every time you get out of your CAR??? I swear, every darned time I get out of my car, I get zapped when I touch the metal. It was even so bad the other day that, in spite of my careful exit, the electricity remained with me and I practically shorted out the ATM machine at the bank because I got shocked when I touched the keypad!!! THAT HURT!!! I think my neighbors think I've lost my mind completely (I'm only part way there, darn it!). When I get out of the car, I touch it like I'm touching a very hot pan, trying to avoid getting zapped! Someone, PLEASE help me!! I can't take it anymore!!

Oh I hate that I have learned to grab the metal part of the door when I get out it seems as long as I am touching some part of the outside of the car when I get out I don't get shocked. Now if I could figure out how to stop getting shocked at the grocery store I would be happy

Some people are just more "charged" than others and I happen to be one of them too. The best way(s) to avoid this is to wear rubber shoes, have a rubber key chain and rub it between you hands before touching metal, hair spray your hair (lightly) and clothes again lightly to prevent static. Avoid clothes that charge you up and stay with cotten as often as possible. You must ground youself before you touch most things, I have learned the hard way. I can't even wear a watch becuase I kill the battary. Oh well. Hope this helps; it helped me through the years! Oh By the way, it can be fun too. I like to shock my husband sometime and he never know I do it on purpose. I can really zap someone too!

Hahahaha Kat well I get that for a while but then it stops. The Car I have now it does not happen as often lol, but the one I had before that I was getting scared to touch the thing but I had to as I was driving lol. But I hated it. So I stared taking a towel and touched it with that. I do know it hurts lol but I can just imagine you getting zapped all the time lol.

I have to admit, sometimes it is pretty funny. But that ATM machine.....I honestly thought I shorted it out, because when it shocked me, the screen flashed, and then it went to another picture on the screen. I was thinking, "Oh GREAT! I killed it!" LOL

It's probably your shoes or something like that. Try switching and see if it helps.

It happens no matter which shoes I am wearing. But I hate driving bare foot, so I guess going without shoes is out of the question (not to mention the fact that driving without shoes on is illegal anyway!). Thanks for responding.

Spray your seatcovers with hairspray. I have no idea why it works but it works for me. I used to suffer with it all the time also.
