It is believed that at least 50,000 George Washington dollar coins were mistakenly struck without their edge inscriptions, including "In God We Trust". The big surprise is its being sold online with a prize of $50 a piece. The coins design has already spurred e-mail conspiracy theories claiming that the religious motto was purposely omitted because of the edge lettering cannot be seen in head-on photographs of the coin.

I would keep them put up. i have heard of them selling for $75 I think it is awful that it was left off, whether intentional or not, but they were made and are worth more as they are from a defective batch. So I would keep them with the more valueable coins that I have.

Well thats kind of collectors item. Its a good business lolz from the its original value going to $50 a piece. The report said that the first one was sold for $600 before everyone knew that there are more like that coins so the prize plays to $40 up to 60$. And now you're saying its raised to $75, maybe the ateist would buy it for a $100. Just thought.

I am not really interested in coins and any rare coins I have come across, I have given them to my son who collects them. I would like to get one of these for my son but I would be afraid to buy one online as I wouldn't be able to tell if it was a fake or the real thing. I wouldn't mind buying one for $50 but I don't think I would pay much more than that.
