So many of you responded to an earlier post of mine that I did up about my best friend who is involved in the family court because her mom is demanding access to your children. I just wanted to update you all on the situation. Today was the court date. I went with my friend to support her. This whole situation has been pretty rough on her and she's just been stressed to the max at everything her mom is putting her through now and having to dredge up the past and go through everything again for this case. Her mother didn't even have the guts to show up at the hearing this morning! She sent word through the legal aid duty counsel that she understood that she hadn't properly served the court papers to her daughter (my friend) and that she wished to dismiss the case for now until she could file again properly at a later date. What a joke. All of this pain and stress for nothing. Now my friend has to sit and stew and wait to see if her mom is actually going to go through with refiling or if she's going to let it drop. Even though she hadn't been properly served my friend had everything go to go for her response. She's got affidavites from various people who are willing to testify to her mother's character on her behalf. She and a few other people took time off of work to be at the courthouse this morning and it was all for nothing. She asked me to thank all of you for your kind words of support. And I thank you as well for taking the time to respond to my previous discussion. There were some good points made that I was able to pass along to her that she was able to bring up with her counsel. So now, I guess we just wait and see what happens.
