We have atypical Irish house with high ceilings and a lot of very small rooms. We have used neurtal, light colored paint, ligh draperies and mirrors to make the rooms seem' bigger. Is there anything else I can try? Are there any any colors that make a signifigant difference?

I've been watching HGTV for several years now & one thing they say is to not put too much furniture in the room. They say you can even put pretty big pieces in, its more the number than the size that count.

I found this in an email from HGTV!!! How timely. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dc_design_small_space/article/0,1/93,HGTV_3382_5351501,00.html Since I had to type that in, I hope it is right, I can't wait until I can copy/paste!

I think the more light you can introduce into your house, the better. Also, if you can link your house and your garden it will decieve the they eyes/mind into thinking the wholeis bigger. Good luck!

Decluttering is the best thing that I've done. From extra junk to extra furniture - when it's gone, there's such a big difference. Depending on your budget, you might consider looking into taking out some walls to make rooms really bigger.

I think this is right but don't quote me on it. Do one wall a different colour. Preferably something slightly darker and maybe a little design on it. I am sure I saw that on Changing Rooms or something and my Mum has done it our livingroom and this room feels big. Lol. YOu might wanna ask someone else on this one but I think I am right. Sorry if I ain't much help.
