Because most fenale of animal eat a male after coupling, like mantid, the black widow, a few butterflies, the bees and many other speci.....?????
Is simple... they do not serve any more.
The fact that they are not useful anymore is not why they are eaten. They could fecundate another female...Why aren't other animals like lions eaten?
The males are eaten to serve as a food supply for their offspring.
