Has your husband ever boycotted the grocery store?

I was reading a post today and it reminded me of this. My husband can go to the fast food place and come back mad about something. He will rant and rave and then say he's going to boycott them! I roll my eyes and say do you think they will miss your business? It was really funny how he'd do that. And he would get mad at a grocery store about something and decide to boycott them also. Nowadays...he has learned to get online to make a report and usually hears from someone in the corportate office, or from the local manager and gets some satisfaction from their response. And sometimes he even gets free coupons! LOL!

Thats too funny. I say good for him. I use to work with somebody who would boycott stores too. But she never did anything about it, so to me this so stupid your only hurting yourself. Like you said they could care less. Oh well it takes all kinks right?

I am not married but I happened to have problems with some shops and decided not to go there anymore...it happened when the shop assistant was not very kind with me or my mother or someone I love...I cannot stand people having bad manners or being too rude with people that are only kind...it happened with the delicatessen store where my mother used to shop when I was younger...the shop assistant was growing ill-mannered day by day and so I told my mother I was not going there anymore...when I explained it to her, she agreed with me...and what happened? He come and asked my mother to change her decision..it was only a misunderstanding and I was only a girl....awful...so I think he missed the amount of money we used to spend there...therefore, why don't you think that your husband may be right? there are some things I cannot stand!!!!

It is not that he has a good point, it is that I am more laid back than he is about this type of thing and I just like to tease him about it.

The only places we ever boycott are restaurants, and that not real often anymore, as we have gotten to know some of the managers. We just talk to them if something goes wrong. The free coupons, and reduced price meals are nice. We also make sure to make positive statements where applicable. You can catch more flies with honey, after all. We have also been rewarded for that.

my boyfriend and i have made a habit of doing this also. anytime we are disatisified with a place that is fanchised out we always get online and file a complaint. we have gotten plenty of free coupons and stuff from Mcdonald's, burger king, KFC, applebee's ect ect. but i also too make a point of leaving complaments if i had a good experience.

My hubby is more laid back, he would tell me of a problem and then we would decide what to do. Normally we tell the manager on the spot and not bring home the problem. Communication is the way we civilized folk take care of things I thought. I guess your hubby communicates through the net now. Well whatever works!

No .. I've never boycotted anything ... that's cutting off your nose to spite your face as it's usually the nearest grocery shop to me that I'd be having a problems with and boycotting it would just make my life harder ... I've learned that if I have a problem it's better and far simpler to simply speak up there and then and get it sorted asap ...

My daughter has often complained and usually gets a variety pack of sorts. I tried it once via phone complaining about an expensive makeup counter in a large store. They were very helpful and nice, but I never got a gift.

No, my husband has never boycotted the grocery store as he has quite a lot of patience. I am the one who would boycott the store as I can't stand waiting in long queues, especially when the cashier makes a mistake and has to ring for a manager to sort it out. This can sometimes take forever and I have often walked out leaving a trolley load of groceries there. My husband hates fast food places and he wonders why they are called 'fast' as he says they are very slow.

Oh, I feel for your husband. Places of business tick me off on a regular basis. If a small business has done me wrong in a big way, I will boycott them and tell my friends and family about my experience. If it's a larger corporation, I will write them a letter, like your husband does, in order to try to get some satisfaction from them. You're right, large companies could care less if one person boycotts them, but the small businesses do feel the pinch.

Your husband may have his reason to boycott a certain place. I did encountered a lot of circumstances like that. But I only boycott that one person who did something that irked me. I don't think we should boycott the whole place just because of one person's wrongdoing. But I guess you're used to how your husband deals with different people.
