How many out there MUTE the TV when commercials come on? We almost ALWAYS do, because the commercials have gotten so loud and "in-your-face" confusing! They're probably 'designed' that way on purpose, but I'm afraid the ad companies ain't gettin' MY dander up! Whoever invented the "mute" function must've been sick & tired of commercials too!
What about you?DO YOU MUTE?

I record a lot on DVD and FF when the commercials are on... Muting them we do sometimes when we are watching 'live'. As far as I know the sound of commercials is always louder than the original tv program you are watching... Maybe they want to wake the audience up, that's fallen asleep during a boring movie, soap or whatever...LOL.
Serious now, since I have worked with thelevision for years and years, I know a little bit about it... It may well be that the program is regulated on say volume X and the machine that plays the commercials is regulated on sound Y. If you record a program, whether it is on VHS or DVD, the sound is always softer than the original program. Apperently it has a lot to do with regulating systems...
