Are actors liers or are they really in touch with themselves?

I remember a little while ago, I saw a performance by this guy in Julie. This is one of my favorite movies because it really delves into the question of attraction. I wanted to know if these two people really had to feel anything for one another before that emotion could successfully come across the screen as believable, or if these people are just great at fooling people. I could taste the emotions; they were so potent. It makes me wonder if I could ever trust an actress were I in a relationship with her. Don't these people have to learn about voice tone, inflection, body language, posture, facial expression and make that all come across in a real subtle way? Baffled Beyond Belief.
